Last week was half term. I think it is safe to assume that as we live in the UK that if you organise a day trip to London involving a train journey, 3 children and an open top bus …it will inevitably RAIN!
And rain it did, buckets! I checked the weather report in the morning willing it to show a little sunshine but to my dismay it showed showers. 100% chance of them…no negotiation, no messing, 100% chance of getting wet.
So in true Brit style and despite the weather I loaded the children onto the train from Leatherhead to London Waterloo ( I was with them, I didn’t just shove them on and walk away – even if the prospect was quite inviting!)…I had promised I would show them Buckingham Palace so that is what we did!
I decided not to bring my big camera – once I got caught in a monsoon like downpour at Manly beach in Sydney and my camera was never the same. So armed with my trusty iPhone instead I instagrammed it all round London.
Unfortunately the view of Buckingham Palace was obscured by huge security banners and road blocks due to the Jubilee celebrations earlier that week, but the children had a great day and waved to the queen ( well the palace) and we had the pick of almost any seat on the open top bus! Funny that!
